Stolpersteine stones were laid in the pavement of Celetná in front of the Hrzán Palace
On Monday 27 June we laid Stolpersteine stones in the pavement of Celetná Street in front of number 12 in memory of the original owners of the house, František and Marta Stadler, who died in 1942 in the concentration camp in Lodz. The author of the idea of Stolpersteine is the German artist Gunter Demnig. Stolpersteine are specially made paving stones with a brass plate on the top, which are placed in the pavement of city sidewalks in the places of the last known residence of some of the victims of the Nazi regime. The brass plaque is always engraved with the name of the victim along with information about the year of birth and death. These stones, reminders of tragic fates, can now be found in many European cities. They remind us of people and moments in history that we must not allow to be forgotten. They contribute to the preservation of the collective memory of humanity.
The memorial stones of the Stadlers were laid in the pavement by the director of the Stadler-Trier Music Foundation, Magdalena Nováčková, together with the mayor of Prague 1, Petr Heima.
