Four floors of art
The 21st edition of the ART PRAGUE contemporary art show will take place in Prague from 3 to 8 October 2022. For the nineteenth time, those interested in current events in the field of visual arts will have the opportunity to see original works by up to 190 artists during the coming week. This year's 34 gallery exhibitions will offer works from almost all artistic disciplines (painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, art glass, installations, video projections, etc.) Individual galleries and exhibiting artists will present their works on four floors. This historic building will thus offer a confrontation of contemporary art and Baroque architecture.
ART PRAGUE will once again present several exhibitions of foreign artists - the Danish Galleri Orange, the group Lounge consisting of artists from Great Britain and France, Mega Gallery led by Canadian artist David Strauzz, Ozlem Atkin from Turkey, Kulturus Gallery presenting Russian artists, and the Spanish Port Gallery. The ART PRAGUE show will once again feature presentations by annual participants such as Artinbox Gallery, Millennium Gallery, Havelka Gallery, Kuzebauch Gallery, eS Gallery, Knupp Gallery, Gambit Gallery, S Gallery, and others. In addition to group presentations, individual projects will also be presented (Klára Sedlo, Lucie Svoboda, Ladislav Vlna, Vilém Frič, David Kolovratník, Anežka Hošková, Jana Vojnárová, Barbora Dohnalová, Barbora Myslikovjanová, and others). Pavel Dušek, winner of the ART PRAGUE YOUNG AWARD 2021, will present his latest work.
A significant element of the show continues to be the growing number of representatives of the youngest generation of artists. Also this year, The Chemistry Gallery, Jan Čejka Gallery, Young Real Art and IndigoSpace will present their dramaturgy, as well as a group of painters - graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under the name Čekárna, Iris Art Gallery and Cifra Gallery. We are proud to enable young artists to present themselves on a wider platform, often for the first time. Of course, we will not miss the established names of the Czech art scene - Michael Rittstein, Jakub Špaňhel, Vladimír Kokolia, Adriena Šimotová, Adolf Hoffmeister, Luboš Plný, Aleš Veselý, Petr Nikl, Vladimír Kopecký, Jan Švankmajer, Jiří Kolář, etc. The partner of this year's edition is the Don Papa Art Competition brand, which has won numerous world awards for the design of its packaging. The brand's natural connection with art and design was the inspiration for the art competition. This year, for the first time, the competition is being held in the Czech Republic and its new edition will be announced at ART PRAGUE 2022.
