Jan Stadler Library opens to the public
The Jan Stadler Library, run by the Stadler-Trier Foundation, opens to the reading public on 16 February 2023.
The library was established in 2021 by the will of Jan Stadler (1922-2019), who founded our foundation. It is housed in the foundation's premises in the Palace of the Hrzáns of Harasov at 12 Celetná Street in Prague's Old Town. In the years 2021-2022, the library processed the part of the collection that relates to the main activity of the foundation, namely the support of musical art and its performers. At the moment there are 2000 library units, so far processed for the electronic library catalogue, including books on music, music books and reference literature (music dictionaries and encyclopaedias, language dictionaries). The library catalogue is accessible from the Foundation's website and allows searching by author, publication title and subject headings.
Cataloguing records are also sent to the Collections Catalogue, so information about the contents of the Jan Stadler Library's collection can also be found there.(https://caslin.cz). All the publications in the catalogued part of the collection are freely available, and except for the dictionary publications are available for absentee borrowing. Given the focus of the library collection, the library's services are intended primarily for the professional music community, especially music students. From 16 February 2023, the library is open to readers every Wednesday afternoon (2-5pm), by appointment only and confirmation of the date by email with a member of the library staff.

Registered readers will follow the published library rules and contribute to library services according to the approved price list. In 2023, the processing of other parts of the collection will continue, currently mainly publications related to art history and general history.
