Recital by Matteo Hager and Maria Šumníková delighted the audience with an excellent experience and quality
On 3 October, a concert of two talented young artists, Matteo Hager and Maria Šumníková, took place in the Celetná Salon.
Matteo Hager was born in 2003 into a Czech-American family and has excelled on the violin since his youth. His musical development and performances have been recognized with a number of prestigious awards and scholarships, including: first prize in the Central Round of the national competition of the Ministry of Education, first prize at the Josef Micky International Violin Competition, first prize at the Václav Hudeček Academy, and the Gold Medal at the Manhattan International Music Competition 2020. He is also a laureate of the France Music Competition 2022, the Augustin Aponte International Music Competition 2022 in Spain, the International Music Competition 2023 in France and the Note di Talento International Music Competition 2023 in Italy. He is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has had successful solo performances with a number of major orchestras and conductors (PKF, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, Ukrainian-Czech Synfonietta, Central London Orchestra, Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra in Turkey, etc.). He greatly appreciates the opportunity to perform under the batons of Tomáš Netopil, Robert Kružík, Tomáš Brauner, Radek Baborák, Marek Šedivý, Petr Vronský, Jan Kučera, Chuhei Iwasaki, Naci Özgüçi and Natalya Gonchak. He also composes his own music and one of his compositions was performed in the programme.
Marie Šumníková started playing the piano when she was only four years old. She has won numerous awards in Czech and international competitions (e.g. Amadeus Brno, Prague Junior Note, Broumovská klávesa, Young Piano of the Prague Conservatory, Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte, Chopin for the Youngest, International piano competition in Aachen, International piano competition in Bari 2017, International Chopin piano competition Budapest (up to 18 years), etc.) and her musical skills have already been recognised by cooperation with major orchestras (Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Gödölö Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Kladno Symphony Orchestra and North Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra Teplice).
This concert was a unique opportunity to hear two outstanding young talents in one evening. Matteo Hager and Marie Šumníková brought their passion for music and art to the Celetná Salon, which was reflected in every note they played.
